I created HCBU because I could no longer watch good people, teams and organisations get trapped in an orthodoxy that trusts technology, processes and external consultants more than the individuals and teams doing the work or customers being served. The result is failure and an ever worsening cycle of mistrust.We have all seen what happens when the psychological contract between people and their organisation is honoured – and what happens when it's disregarded or broken.We have also seen how new initiatives, AI and “transformation programmes” are dropped onto people rather than co-created with them and the negative impact that often has.

My belief is simple: when people feel human, creative, bold and unique – when they are genuinely seen and valued – everything changes:For them.

My career before HCBU sat at the intersection of:Coaching and reflection – supporting individuals and leaders through honest, often uncomfortable conversations about how work really feels.The psychological contract and engagement – exploring the unspoken expectations on both sides, and how breaches show up as frustration, withdrawal and “quiet quitting”.NLP-informed practice – using ideas from NLP in a grounded, ethical way to notice patterns in language and belief, and to help people find new choices.Organisational strategy and design – looking at how structures, systems and ways of working either release or crush human energy, initiative and creativity.Repeatedly, I saw the same pattern: instead of creating service and product excellence and freeing people to do their best work bold and caring people were squeezed, creativity was seen as a risk, and unthinking conformity rewarded.
